A fisherman in Tumpat, Kelantan, Malaysia was surprised to discover a 61mm mortar bomb caught in an old tire on a rocky area near Pantai Sri Tujuh beach yesterday afternoon. Upon receiving a report, police and bomb disposal units rushed to the scene and safely detonated the rusty, World War II-era bomb around 5pm.

Ketua Polis Daerah Tumpat, Asisten Komisioner Mohd. Khairi Shafie berkata, siasatan mendapati, semasa kejadian lelaki berusia 26 tahun itu telah melihat satu objek yang menyerupai bom tersangkut di dalam tayar lama. “Siasatan mendapati, bom tersebut merupakan jenis mortar berukuran 61 mm yang telah lama dan berkarat.
