The body of a 20-year-old Indonesian man was found in Sungai Langat, Bandar Baru Bangi, after he was reported to have fallen into the river while fishing on January 13. The victim slipped and fell into the river at around 9:58 pm, prompting a search and rescue (SAR) operation involving the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM). After two days of searching, rescuers found the man's body floating 18 kilometers from the location where he fell. The body was sent to Hospital Serdang for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Initial investigations found no criminal elements involved in the incident, and the case was classified as sudden death (SDR).

Ketua Polis Daerah Kajang, Asisten Komisioner Naazron Abdul Yusof berkata, mangsa dilaporkan tergelincir dan jatuh ke dalam sungai semasa menjala kira-kira pukul 9.58 malam dan operasi mencari dan menyelamat yang melibatkan pasukan Polis Diraja Malaysia dan Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Selangor telah diaktifkan sejurus menerima laporan berkenaan.
“Selepas dua hari operasi dijalankan, pasukan penyelamat berjaya menemukan mayat lelaki berkenaan yang terapung sejauh 18 kilometer dari lokasi mangsa dilaporkan terjatuh, sekitar pukul 10 malam semalam,” katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini. Menurut Naazron, mayat mangsa telah dihantar ke Hospital Serdang untuk bedah siasat bagi mengenal pasti punca sebenar kematian.
“Hasil siasatan awal mendapati tiada unsur jenayah terlibat dalam insiden ini, dan kes diklasifikasikan sebagai mati mengejut ,” katanya.-UTUSAN.
