The first set of six-car Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains manufactured by CRRC Dalian for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is expected to arrive in Malaysia by the end of the year. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the EMU trains, designed to carry 430 passengers, are equipped with various amenities for passenger comfort, including designated seats for passengers with disabilities.
PUTRAJAYA: Set pertama daripada keseluruhan 11 set tren Electric Multiple Unit enam gerabak buatan syarikat CRRC Dalian bagi pengoperasian ECRL dijangka tiba di Malaysia menjelang akhir tahun ini.
Selain itu, katanya, set EMU berkenaan turut mempunyai tempat duduk bagi penumpang orang kelainan upaya yang menggunakan kerusi roda atau penumpang yang memerlukan pertolongan khas. “Tren EMU ini akan bergerak pada kelajuan maksimum 160 kilometer sejam apabila memulakan operasi komersialnya kelak iaitu pada Januari 2027 dari Kota Bharu ke Terminal Bersepadu Gombak dengan masa perjalanan selama empat jam sahaja.
