BYD Malaysia has officially confirmed that the Denza D9 electric MPV will be available in two variants in the Malaysia n market. While the pricing for the new vehicle is yet to be announced and will be revealed during the launch event on February 20, BYD Malaysia highlighted the performance capabilities of both variants. All D9 models in Malaysia will be powered by the same 103.
36kWh BYD Blade LFP battery and feature standard 3-phase 11kW AC charging along with support for DC charging speeds up to 166kW. Although BYD Malaysia did not delve into the specifics of the variant differences during the media preview, observations suggest variations in interior materials. The D9 Advanced is expected to have Nappa leather seats and a suede ceiling, while the D9 Premium might feature premium leather upholstery for the seats and a fabric headlining. Both variants come with 18-inch wheels, but the media preview units displayed different tire sets. The D9 Advanced sports Michelin e-Primary 235/60 tires, while the D9 Premium variant is equipped with Continental PremiumContact C tires. The easiest way to distinguish between the two variants is by looking at the rear. The D9 Premium features an AWD badge on the bottom right corner of the tailgate. Customers will have three exterior color options to choose from: Arctic White, Whale Sea Blue, and Cosmos Black. The D9's interior will be available in Black/Brown and Black/Beige, according to the units showcased at the media preview. The vehicle has ample room for 7 adults, each standing 180cm tall, along with 7 20-inch suitcases and 7 backpacks. BYD claims the D9's interior noise level can be as low as 64.6dB while traveling at 120km/h on the highway. Another notable feature is the standard built-in motorized refrigerator that slides in and out with a touch of a button. It can function both as a refrigerator and a heating box, supporting temperatures up to 50°C. This refrigerator can also be controlled through the 5.5-inch touch screens on the D9's captain chairs. These touch screens offer various functionalities, including seat adjustment, air conditioner control, music playback, sliding doors, windows, sunroofs, sunshade, ambient lights, and reading lights. The D9 also features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver (the Premium variant includes a heads-up display) and a 15.6-inch infotainment touch screen. Furthermore, the MPV is equipped with a Dynaudio 14-speaker sound system and 50W wireless phone chargers located on the captain seats and front center console. Safety-wise, the D9 comes with 8 airbags, including side curtain airbags that cover all three rows and a central airbag.
