The Denza D9 electric luxury MPV has arrived in Thailand, becoming the brand's second right-hand-drive market in ASEAN. This model is available in Premium and Performance AWD variants, boasting impressive features like a large battery, fast charging capabilities, and a stylish design.

While we await the arrival of the Denza D9 on our shores, scheduled for the first half of next year, the electric luxury MPV has already been launched in Thailand – its second right-hand-drive ASEAN market after Singapore. There, the car is offered in Premium and Performance AWD variants, priced at 1,999,900 baht (RM258,700) and 2,699,900 baht (RM349,300) respectively.

As previously reported, the D9 is powered by a single front motor that produces 313 PS (230 kW) and 360 Nm of torque, getting it from zero to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. The standard-fit 103.36 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery provides a range of 520 km on the WLTP cycle. The Performance AWD version, as the name suggests, comes with all-wheel drive through the fitment of a second motor at the back, producing 61 PS (45 kW) and 110 Nm. Total system output is 374 PS (275 kW) and 470 Nm, slashing the century sprint time to 6.9 seconds but also reducing range to 480 km. With an 800-volt electrical architecture, the D9 can support up to 166 kW of DC fast charging power, while AC charging is capped at 11 kW; charging times have not been released as yet. Even compared to other luxury MPVs, the D9 is massive. Measuring 5,250 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,920 mm tall, it’s 240 mm longer and 100 mm wider than the segment-defining Toyota Alphard/Vellfire and 41 mm longer and 72 mm taller than even the imposing Zeekr 009. Its 3,110 mm wheelbase, meanwhile, sits somewhere between the Toyota’s (3,000 mm) and the Zeekr’s (3,205 mm). Using its sizeable dimensions to its advantage, the D9 offers plenty of road presence, its black mask-like front end incorporating the headlights and vertical chrome bars. The rear of the car, meanwhile, is dominated by large sail-like silver D-pillars that lead into the full-width taillight bar. Tiny 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels come standard. The dashboard of the D9 is typically BYD, dominated by a massive 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen from the Seal, although here it doesn’t rotate. There’s also a 10.25-inch digital instrument display integrated into the fascia, a 12-inch head-up display and a 14-speaker Dynaudio sound system. Materials are a step up, however, with genuine wood trim, Nappa leather upholstery and suede headlining, although the last two are reserved for the Performance AWD model. As befits a luxury MPV, the seven-seater D9 is awash with amenities that include ten-way power-adjustable second-row captain’s chairs with integrated armrest displays (controlling the heating, ventilation and massage functions), a 7.5 litre fridge with dual temperature control, a massive panoramic glass roof, three 50-watt Qi wireless chargers (including two on the second row) and triple-zone climate control with a built-in air ioniser. The D9 is also equipped with BYD’s DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System, adding adaptive dampers. The list of driver assists, meanwhile, is vast and includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, front and rear cross traffic alert with auto brake and a door opening warning
