Brisbane coach Chris Fagan is pleading for an end to “damaging and prejudicial” reporting of Hawthorn’s racism saga. 7NEWS

Fagan, North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson and former player development manager Jason Burt have been named as figures involved in alleged episodes of racism during their time at Hawthorn. The allegations, initially reported last September, are the focus of an ongoing investigation independent of the AFL.

In a statement provided to 7NEWS on Sunday, Fagan took aim at two News Corp journalists for inaccuracies in their reporting of the saga.“On May 1, 2023, it was reported by Jon Ralph of the Herald Sun that I was unwilling to participate in a mediation,” the statement reads.“On May 5, 2023, an article authored by Mark Robinson was published on the Herald Sun website.

“I expect, however, that other potential participants will also approach a potential mediation in good faith,” Fagan’s statement continued. “Based on the recent reporting in the Herald Sun, I am deeply concerned that one or more participants in the investigation or their advisors is breaching his or her obligations.”“I have never given up the right to take up my concerns in the appropriate forum,” he said.“I have been involved in football coaching or other roles within football clubs for approximately 40 years.
