Opposition leader Peter Dutton has again been accused of playing politics and lacking empathy in his response to the Royal Commission's findings into the scandalous Robodebt scheme.

The scheme was designed to recover more than $3 billion in Centrelink debt via an automated service, but came under fire for distributing about 460,000 false debt notices causing significant trauma to recipients and their families. “Scott Morrison and all of these ministers and bureaucrats are going to have to live with this on their conscience for the rest of their lives,” Mr Clare said on Sunday.
“All of this could have been avoided if they’d asked for legal advice or if they’d started to act in a human way once they realised they were sending bills to people that they didn’t owe.The Commissioner described Robodebt as being"responsible for the heartbreak and harm to family members" of those people who took their own lives due to how the scheme made them feel.
