SINGAPORE: The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Health Ministry (MOH) said in a joint statement on Wednesday (July 10) that the controversial mural of a smoking samsui woman on 297 South Bridge Road can stay, but have issued a composition fine of S$2,000 to the owner for the unauthorised mural.

ALOR GAJAH : An elderly woman who got into an argument with a livestock farmer here stole one of his cows before slaughtering it and distributing the meat to villagers from Kampung Asli Kubang Badak, Tebong.

Alor Gajah OCPD Superintendent Ashari Ab Samah said the 69-year-old suspect was detained along with a 30-year-old Indonesian man after the farmer lodged a report on July 5. "The suspect claimed that her durian orchard was damaged by the cattle belonging to the 38-year-old farmer, which prompted her to kill and butcher the animal, which is worth RM3,000.

"We are also investigating whether if the suspects are responsible for the mysterious disappearance of over 20 cows belonging to the same farmer," he said on Wednesday . Supt Ashari said the farmer found the head of the slaughtered cow in the suspect's orchard, which he identified via a Veterinary Services Department ear tag.Supt Ashari said both the suspects have been remanded until July 12 under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 428 of the Penal Code for maiming animals.
