KUALA LUMPUR: My E.G. Services Bhd’s (MyEG) wholly-owned subsidiary, My E.G. Capital Sdn Bhd, has acquired 14.40% equity interest in HeiTech Padu Bhd for RM31.25mil cash.
KUALA LANGAT: The Education Ministry is committed to acknowledging the existence of vernacular schools and supporting them, says its Minister Fadhlina Sidek .
Fadhlina was responding to Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh’s call for a reassessment of the vernacular education system amid growing concerns over the lack of cohesion among the population.Meanwhile, pupils in states under Group B returned to class for the new school year on Monday. Fadhlina said 3.6 million students from pre-school to Form Five started their school session today, including 927,528 in Selangor; while about 1.4 million in Group A started on Sunday .
Group A comprises Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, while the states in Group B are Selangor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and the three Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

Ministry of Defence launches education savings programme for children of military personnelThe Ministry of Defence, in partnership with the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), has initiated a National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) savings programme for primary one pupils who are the children of military personnel, to commence this year. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced that the Madani Education Savings (SPM) programme entails contributions being deposited into the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) accounts of 9,355 primary one pupils for the 2024 school session, totaling RM467,750. Mohamed Khaled also announced a government allocation of RM15 million through the Ministry of Education for the maintenance and upgrading of school facilities within military compounds. He highlighted that this allocation would benefit 29 primary and secondary schools, including a Mara Science Junior College, located within military bases nationwide.
