The Malaysian Education Ministry is considering extending its successful book voucher program to teachers in the future. Minister Fadhlina Sidek highlighted the program's impressive 100% redemption rate among students last year during a press conference in Nibong Tebal, Penang. She attributed this success to the commitment of teachers and state Education Departments nationwide, emphasizing the program's positive impact on reading culture and literacy among children.
The minister plans to present a proposal to the Cabinet outlining the expansion of the program to include teachers. Introduced in May 2023, the Madani Book Voucher Program allowed students to redeem vouchers until the end of the year. Fadhlina also addressed the Early Schooling Aid (BAP) cash assistance, urging parents to utilize the allocated funds (RM33.9 million in Penang) for their children's school needs before the new academic session begins. She emphasized the importance of safety and preparation for students transitioning to different grades, particularly those entering secondary school. Minister Fadhlina urged SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) candidates to intensify their efforts in preparation for the upcoming academic year
