Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains have been shaken by a 3.6 magnitude earthquake on Friday night.

The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed just before 9.30pm an earthquake had been felt in Penrith, while tremors had also been recorded by locals in the Blue Mountains.
