A drone attack on one of the last functioning hospitals in El-Fasher, Sudan's Darfur region, killed 30 people and injured dozens. The bombing of the Saudi Hospital on Friday evening destroyed the building where emergency cases were treated. The attack highlights the escalating violence in Darfur, where the Sudanese army has been at war with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 2023. The war has crippled health care across the country, with up to 80 percent of facilities out of service. Famine has also taken hold in several displacement camps near El-Fasher, with the risk of it expanding to the city itself by May.
