PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has questioned the Education Ministry's Free Breakfast Programme (PSP) following claims by an online news report that it would be a private initiative instead of a government-funded programme.

Dr Wee said he had raised the matter in Parliament in November questioning the funding of the PSP as the RM1.67bil for the programme was not listed in the ministry's items under Budget 2020.

"Where did the allocation for the PSP worth RM1.6bil went? Under which item was it listed? Did they forget to note it down and print it?" Dr Wee questioned in a Facebook posting on Tuesday . "Finally it has been answered. First it was said it would be implemented in all schools and benefit 2.7 million students but now, only 100 schools only and using the collection from the Soda Tax?"This is usual for Pakatan. Their statements always change, U-turn here and there. What can be done," said Dr Wee.

In October last year, Maszlee told lawmakers in Dewan Rakyat that between RM800mil and RM1.67bil will be spent on free breakfast for the 2.7 million pupils.
