Q&A with Chris Desai, owner of Ogden Wine & Spirits in Naperville.
“Four or five years.”“It was a good opportunity. Nice neighborhood. Nice people. A busy street, Ogden Avenue. It’s a busy plaza overall. A lot of foot traffic. Close to downtown Naperville. ... I always wanted my own business.”“I used to be a manager for Dunkin Donuts. I was all over the place. I was with Dunkin for almost 10 years. I’ve been in Chicago, Hanover Park, Westmont. The last one I was at was in O’Hare Airport. Crazy hours.”How many employees do you have?“It’s important.
“When people are partying, have been drinking, we have to say ‘no’ to them and they don’t like that. There are legal implications .”“They do try to buy, but we ID them religiously. We have North Central College nearby, a couple other colleges. Lots of students come in. You can’t really tell by looking so we ID them.”“Long hours. Holidays and weekends are busier. ... It’s the nature of the business. ... I’m here most of the time. Sundays, I’m not.
