Don’t be apologetic in championing Malay, Bumi rights, Zahid tells Umno FMTNews
KUALA LUMPUR : Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there was no need for party members to be apologetic for voicing out issues related to Islam, Malay and Bumiputera rights.
“In fact, efforts to implement Islamic values remain on our agenda in the Unity Government,” he said at the Umno general assembly today. Zahid said for example there was no need to feel apologetic when it came to declaring their stance on the use of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims. There are those he said who were trying to come off as champions by claiming that the government has “pawned off” the word, he said, in what is believed to be a jab at Perikatan Nasional.“Umno and our representatives in the cabinet, emphatically stated that the word Allah cannot be used by other religions.
