DNC committee to vote on convention changes that could allow for virtual voting if necessary

“I’m hopeful that we're going to be able to have some form of an in-person convention. We may not have everybody there. It's not an either/or,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez tells smerconish. “… We will follow the science.”

If approved, as expected, by the Rules and Bylaws Committee and the full DNC membership, it could potentially change how the August convention is conducted and allow for virtual voting. The Washington Post first reported the development.Democrats originally planned to hold their Milwaukee convention in July, but pushed the date back to the week of August 17 because of the coronavirus.

"The CEO of the 2020 Democratic National Convention Committee, Joe Solmonese, told CNN in a statement,"This resolution provides our team with increased flexibility to adjust our plans, ensure that every delegate is able to accomplish their official business without putting their own health at risk, and enables us to chart the most appropriate course forward as we work to launch our nominee to victory in November.
