The MCA Chinese New Year Open House was abuzz with excitement today, enhanced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Wisma MCA in Jalan Ampang. Donning a batik shirt, Ahmad Zahid, who also holds the position of Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, arrived at 9:30 am and was warmly greeted by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Ahmad Zahid and the MCA leadership joined in the traditional 'yee sang' tossing ceremony, a symbolic act for the Chinese community representing prosperity, wealth, and good fortune. The event saw a notable gathering of prominent figures, including BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, and former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who shared a table with Ahmad Zahid and Wee. Other attendees included BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, and the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing.A large throng of visitors started arriving at Wisma MCA as early as 8:00 am, creating a festive atmosphere characterized by vibrant lion dances accompanied by the energetic sounds of Chinese drums and the celebratory bursts of firecrackers. Guests were treated to a delectable spread of traditional dishes, including fried noodles, rendang, Chinese tea, assorted pastries, and mandarin oranges. Chinese New Year is celebrated as a time of new beginnings and is often marked by open houses, providing an opportunity to celebrate with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues
