Kenneth Jonassen, a former Danish badminton star, has officially started his role as the National Singles Head Coach for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). He aims to blend Asian and European playing styles to help Malaysian players reach their full potential. Jonassen plans to individually connect with each player and coach to understand their strengths and motivations before implementing any significant changes.
Danish badminton legend Kenneth Jonassen who now serves as the National Singles Head Coach is thrilled to introduce a hybrid of Asian and European playing styles to the national players after officially commencing his role with the Badminton Association of Malaysia today. — Bernama picas a first-time user .
“I’m settling in with some of my ideas because I think understanding everything is the key and best motivation for us to move forward. I am grateful to be here but not out to make any major immediate impact, just having talks with them individually and collectively as a group as well,” he said when met at Akademi Badminton Academy , Bukit Kiara here today.
Jonassen added that he wants to understand what is happening with another national men’s singles player, Ng Tze Yong, who is still traumatised by his back injury before taking any action that could help the 25-year-old. His injury began at the 2024 Malaysia Open, where he suffered a torn back muscle, followed by a spinal injury at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships , which required him to undergo a series of surgeries.
