One day after the Dallas Cowboys QB filed a civil lawsuit accusing a woman of a false allegation, the woman’s lawyer responded in a radio interview.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott prepares to take the field to face the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, October 8, 2023.Arlington-based attorney Yoel Zehaie on Tuesday afternoon told KRLD-FM that Prescott “raped” his client and a civil lawsuit is “very imminent.” He said his client isn’t ruling out filing criminal charges. In the state of Texas, civil statute of limitations is five years for sexual assault and two years for conspiracy.
“We will not allow the Defendant and her legal team to profit from this attempt to extort millions from Mr. Prescott,” McCathern said Monday in a statement.Zehaie said he was disappointed Prescott “would try to flip the script and make himself the victim,” and said Prescott’s story had changed over the course of their discussions, ultimately saying the encounter was consensual.
Zehaie told The Fan his client was afraid to speak about the alleged sexual assault for fear Cowboys’ fans would dismiss it.The alleged sexual encounter occurred in Plano in or around Feb. 2, 2017 following Prescott’s rookie season, according to court documents. In a letter Zehaie sent to Prescott’s legal team, it accuses him of sexually assaulting the woman in the backseat of his SUV after she told him she did not want to engage in sexual intercourse.
“Well, what’s the price that you can put on a rape?” said Zehaie comparing it to when someone dies. “The trauma that comes from that. The humiliation that comes from that. There’s not a price tag you can put on that. So to be honest, I don’t think 100 million was out of the realm of possibility.”Calvin Watkins
