Toyota’s subsidiary Daihatsu recently admitted to rigging the crash safety tests for four car models: the 2023 Perodua Axia, Toyota Vios , Toyota Agya, and a new model that has yet to be launched.Daihatsu said in a statement that over 88,000 units of affected models have been sold in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Mexico.
Meanwhile, 76,000 Yaris models were sold in Thailand, Mexico, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries . So far, Toyota has not received any report of an accident or injury related to the rigged side-crash safety test.
