Independent MP Kylea Tink says the Australian tax system has an “over-reliance” on taxing individuals who earn more which creates a “disincentive” for hard work.
“There’s no doubt we need to have a conversation in this country about our overarching tax system, we have an over-reliance of taxing individuals at the moment and arguably we tax the wrong things,” Ms Tink told Sky News Australia.
“The more someone works or the more they earn then more they get taxed and surely that’s got to be a disincentive for working harder in the long run … I absolutely believe we need to keep stage three tax cuts.”
