Covid-19 update: 45 new cases reported, one new death makes it 107 fatalities

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 45 more Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (May 6), bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 6,428.

Out of the 45 cases, only one was an imported case while the rest were local transmissions, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah at the Health Ministry’s daily Covid-19 media briefing Wednesday evening.

Malaysia also discharged 135 more patients in the same 24-hour span, which means 4,702 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.There are only 1,619 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present. There are currently 22 patients being treated at intensive care units with nine on ventilator support.On the new death case, he said the 107th fatality was a 51-year-old man with a history of hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease.Article type: free
