PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported 30 more Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (May 5), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 6,383.

All of the 30 cases were local transmissions, with zero imported cases, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said at the Health Ministry’s daily Covid-19 media briefing on Tuesday.

Eighty-three more patients were also discharged in same 24-hour span, which means 4,567 patients have recovered from Covid-19 since the outbreak began.There are only 1,710 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present. There are currently 24 patients being treated at intensive care units with eight on ventilator support.On the new death case, Dr Noor Hisham said the 106th fatality is a 47-year-old Malaysian man.

He was admitted to a private hospital on April 15, and was subsequently transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital on April 16 after testing positive for Covid-19.
