PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 721 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (Dec 19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 5,018,584 since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that 718 of Monday's new Covid-19 infections were locally transmitted while there were three imported cases.

A total of 685 people, or 4.4% of active infections, were seeking treatment at hospitals nationwide as at 11.50pm Monday while there were 44 individuals seeking treatment at intensive care units .
