Labor’s vow to reduce electricity prices is"in tatters", with cash-strapped Australians now paying as much as $960 more per year, leaving the Coalition to declare the promise is now unachievable.

“Our plan will create 604,000 jobs, with 5 out of 6 new jobs to be created in the regions,” the website reads.“It will cut power bills for families and businesses by $275 a year for homes by 2025, compared to today.” “Labor went to an election promising the dream of cheaper energy bills to only deliver the nightmare of some of the most expensive energy prices in the world,” Mr O’Brien told skynews.com.au

Data from the Australian Energy Regulator shows Australians are now paying hundreds of dollars more on electricity than they were under the previous government. It also represents the amount a typical customer can expect to pay for electricity over a year, with the price applying to Australians in NSW, Queensland and South Australia.

The Albanese government could turn things around, but to meet the 2025 target it would need to reduce prices by between $789 and $1238 from today’s prices.
