Economic uncertainty appears to have scared off budget-conscious phone buyers, leaving high-end iPhones to pick up the slack.
Data shows Australian consumers are most likely to buy the most expensive models.Apple will face an uphill battle selling the iPhone 15 it’s launching this week, with increased interest rates, the slower economy and troubles in China all expected to suppress demand for the new phone, analysts say.
Interest in lower-cost iPhone 14 models has been falling away, probably due to budget-conscious consumers delaying their upgrades.On average, Australians now only upgrade their phones once every 3.4 years, according to data from the research company Telsyte.
