Converge overcame a sluggish start and drew the much-needed offense from import Tom Vodanovich, Jerrick Balanza and rookie Deschon Winston to subdue Phoenix, 97-93 and sweep the the FiberXers-sponsored pocket tournament on Tuesday, October 17 at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.

The FiberXers trailed by eight in the opening frame, but eventually caught fire from downtown, nailing a total of 15 three-pointers to turn the tables against the Fuel Masters.The Aldin Ayo-mentored Converge squad went on to score a three-game sweep of the four-team meet, while Phoenix wound up winless.Balanza and Vodanovich scored 18 points apiece, combining for eight triples as well for the FiberXers, who released top forward Jeron Teng to free agency in the offseason.

Vodanovich, who played the New Zealand Tall Blacks, added 17 rebounds, providing the energy and hustle for the team.Winston added 17 and six rebounds, showing his readiness to play in the pro league.Javee Mocon led Phoenix with 13 points, while import Johnathan Williams added 12 and eight rebounds in 17 minutes of action.Jayjay Alejandro also scored 12, while rookie big man Ken Tuffin chipped in 11 and seven boards for Phoenix.
