Converge leaned on a strong third quarter showing to repel Blackwater, 87-75, in the Converge preseason tournament on Friday, Oct. 13 – its first match since its controversial tuneup game last week.
The FiberXers found their groove on both ends of the floor in the third frame with guys like Jerrick Balanza, Keith Zaldivar and free agent Mark Tallo stepping up to help Converge erase an 11-point first half deficit.
Alec Stockton led the way for Converge with 13 points and six assists while import Thomas Vodanovich finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. It was the first time the two teams faced each other since their tuneup game that was marred by an incident that saw Blackwater head coach Jeffrey Cariaso hold on to FiberXers’ guard Aljun Melecio to stop a Converge transition attack.
