NSW Premier Chris Minns has defended the decision to not light up the Sydney Opera House for King Charles III’s historic coronation over the weekend.

Mr Minns discussed the costs involved regarding projecting on to the Opera House when he was questioned on the issue during a media conference on Monday.

“At the end of the day I’ve made a decision that we need to protect government money – we need to protect taxpayer money in particular,” Mr Minns said. “But I don’t think and didn’t believe it met the threshold for lighting up the Opera House given how much it costs.”
