Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said officers found the body of the 28-year-old man.“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested," Swartbooi said.A motorist was shot and his vehicle torched.News24 has unconfirmed reports that the victim's vehicle was torched after the shooting.
Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Reagen Allen said contingency plans were adopted to ensure that the torching of law enforcement vehicles in Delft would have no operational impact on the deployment of Law Enforcement Advancement officers in the area. He said a special cabinet meeting will be held on Monday morning with key leadership from the City of Cape Town to"assess what further steps need to be taken".
