A Canberra man accused of attempting to set fire to a police officer during an assault is handed a good behaviour order by an ACT court.

The court heard he punched his wife in the face and stomach and kicked in the kitchen window, showering her with glass. The court heard Nocen — holding a jerry can and a lighter — punched the police officer in both legs, elbowed him in the stomach multiple times and in the process poured petrol on him.
In sentencing, Special Magistrate Anthony Hopkins referred to Nocen being diagnosed with a major depressive disorder and a brain injury he suffered in 2014.
