The new Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, has been recognized by CNN as one of the 11 architectural projects that will shape the world in 2025. Designed by Foster + Partners, the airport features a unique design inspired by traditional Cambodian architecture and incorporates sustainable energy solutions through an onsite solar farm. With an initial capacity of 13 million passengers and a future target of 30 million, the airport aims to position Cambodia as a leading regional aviation hub.

PHNOM PENH : The Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh, the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia , stands out among the 11 architectural projects set to shape the world in 2025, according to the Cable News Network .

The new Techo International Airport’s initial capacity of 13 million annual passengers will eventually rise to 30 million, part of the country’s ambitious bid to boost tourism and become a regional aviation hub. With a form inspired by traditional Cambodian design, the terminal’s main roof is supported by a series of structural timber “trees” .

Managed by Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd., the project is a public-private partnership between Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation with a 90 percent stake and the rest 10 percent stake belonging to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.
