The California State Univ. system, announces plans to keep most of its courses for the fall semester virtual amid the coronavirus pandemic.

White confirmed the plans for a “hybrid approach” in a statement posted to the school’s website Tuesday.

Any in-person activities must meet"compelling educational and research needs" while also committing rigorous safety measures, White said in Tuesday's statement. The decision comes as schools across the country consider what to do for the academic year after spending the last several weeks transitioning to virtual classes.
