(Reuters) - Retail investors bought a record amount of Nvidia stock on Monday after concerns over a low-cost artificial intelligence model from Chinese startup DeepSeek stripped 17% off its shares, or $593 billion from its market value.

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI saw a modest recovery but failed to gain momentum, remaining in negative territory as investor sentiment stayed subdued amidst ongoing market uncertainties.

Reuters reported that Malaysian shares fell to a near six-month low on Tuesday, joining a global AI selloff sparked by the emergence of a low-cost Chinese artificial intelligence model.Dealers noted that the mood was further dampened by the new US tariff threats, which added to the overall negative sentiment in the market.

Meanwhile, the local currency has depreciated by 0.4% against the US dollar, now at 4.3960, but has gained 0.12% against the Singapore dollar, reaching 3.2506.
