Ketika ditemui Utusan Malaysia, abang mangsa, Kelvin berkata, sudah menjadi kebiasaan buat Steven yang menetap di Kajang, Selangor ke lokasi berkenaan untuk mendaki apabila pulang ke kampung halaman.
Katanya, sebelum kejadian adiknya yang sudah berkahwin dan mempunyai dua anak itu ada memaklumkan kepada ibu mereka untuk ke Bukit Beruang, kira-kira pukul 4.30 petang.
“Selepas itu, saya membuat laporan polis di Balai Polis Ayer Keroh serta memaklumkan mengenai kehilangan adik saya. Mendaki adalah sukan yang sering dilakukan oleh Steven dan ini merupakan kejadian pertama dia hilang tanpa dapat dikesan,” katanya ketika ditemui.
