PETALING JAYA: The Badmin-ton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) high performance director Dr Tim Jones has urged the national shuttlers to use the lessons learnt at the Commonwealth Games to produce better results at the World Championships in Tokyo which begins tomorrow.
Being a sports science specialist, Jones believes every inch of experience, be it positive or negative, should be utilised to show progress in future tournaments.
But Malaysia also had the agony of watching men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, gold medal contenders, returning with a bronze. Jones said the players, upon returning from Birmingham, had rested and recovered well to focus on the World Champion-ships.“They all had the chance to get home for a short break to rest and refresh before getting back into focused preparations.
“I have no issues on the players’ focus and determination – we will use the momentum of good results for some players to build on, and others who didn’t perform so well can use the disappointment to drive them to do better.”
