Bohemians picked up a morale-boosting 2-1 win at home to Derry City on Friday night, while the search for a new permanent manager continues.
Derek Pender guided Bohemians to a 2-1 win over Derry City on Friday night as he stepped into the caretaker role along with Trevor Croly - and afterwards he admitted he was in the dark regarding the search for a new permanent manager.
“Whoever comes in, with the players we have, the infrastructure and everything around the club, it's the biggest job in the country and it can be the best job in the country,” he said. And he paid tribute to Declan Devine, whose time in charge came to an abrupt end after the defeat to Shelbourne a week earlier.
“We came in on Monday, everybody was down. But we have to lift each other, stick together, we had to get on with it and we were in every day.As for Devine, he added: “Declan was a really popular figure in the dressing room, the players really liked him, but football doesn't go your way sometimes, we were hurting.
“You can't change a lot in a week but those players performed as they were hurting with what happened and they showed it with the response.”
