TNB Electron and BHPetrol collaborate to boost EV adoption in Malaysia through the deployment of high-powered DC fast chargers at strategic locations.
TNB Electron and BHPetrol have joined forces to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in developing Malaysia's EV ecosystem by providing convenient and reliable fast-charging infrastructure. The partnership kicked off with the launch of a 200kW DC fast charger at the BHPetrol Jalan Genting Klang 1 station, making EVs more accessible to Malaysian drivers.
Leveraging BHPetrol's extensive network of 400 retail locations, TNB Electron aims to expand its charging network nationwide. Two additional 200kW TNB Electron high-powered charging stations are planned for deployment at crucial locations along major highways, further bolstering Malaysia's EV infrastructure. These strategically positioned sites at Karak and R&R Ladang Bikam will address the range anxiety often associated with long-distance EV travel. The new 200kW DC fast chargers will enable compatible EVs to significantly increase their range in a shorter time frame. With the capacity to charge multiple vehicles simultaneously, these stations aim to minimize waiting times, making long-distance EV travel more practical. The BHPetrol Jalan Genting Klang 1 station, now operational, is projected to deliver over 1,200MWh of electricity over the next five years, translating to approximately RM1.8 million in revenue. This initiative not only supports Malaysia's net-zero carbon goals by 2050 but also solidifies BHPetrol's commitment to building a future-ready EV infrastructure. The collaboration between TNB Electron and BHPetrol marks a crucial milestone in Malaysia's EV journey, paving the way for the expansion of high-powered charging locations across the country. As Malaysia continues to progress towards its EV adoption targets, the widespread availability of high-powered charging infrastructure will be instrumental in encouraging more Malaysians to embrace electric vehicles
