Bernas tambah 150,000 tan metrik beras import elak putus bekalan

Timbalan Menteri Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan Chan Foong Hin berkata penambahan beras import itu diputuskan selepas sesi libat urus antara kementerian dan Bernas minggu lalu yang mendapati permintaan bahan makanan itu di pasaran ketika ini meningkat berbanding tahun lalu. “Justeru berhubung isu yang diuar-uarkan media Cina mengenai kemungkinan berlaku kekurangan bekalan beras adalah tidak tepat. Situasi yang berlaku ketika ini, peruncit sedang berdepan dengan hasil padi yang kurang dalam negara dan mereka perlukan lebih beras import yang hanya boleh dibawa masuk Bernas,” katanya.
Ia susulan laporan sebuah akhbar berbahasa Cina tempatan hari ini menyatakan pemborong beras khuatir kerana masalah kekurangan beras dijangka akan berlaku dalam tempoh beberapa bulan akan datang.
