GEORGE TOWN, June 6 ― The International Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals in Penang hopes to raise RM80,000 during its second pet carnival in August.
IAPWA president Choong Koon Yean said it managed to raise RM60,000 during the inaugural carnival last year.“Instead of just one day, we are extending it for another day to accommodate our vendors,” she said, adding that many of the vendors were from out of state and they wanted to make their trip worthwhile.
Besides the extended event, there will also be talks on canine acupuncture and chiropractic treatments.With the aim of improving from last year's event, Choong said there will also be a talk by an animal communicator.All funds raised during the two-day event will go towards the organisation's trap neuter and release programme which have benefited 5,175 strays since it began in March 2018.
