Malaysia's Transport Ministry plans to implement a new automated camera-based system (HS-WIM) by Q3 2025 to monitor and enforce overweight lorries. This system will use cameras and sensors to identify and record overweight vehicles, enabling authorities to issue penalties. The system will be installed at 10 high-traffic locations nationwide, targeting areas with high accident rates and a history of overloading.

When a heavy vehicle passes the area, with sensors, we will know if the vehicle is overweight or not, and the cameras will record the vehicle.

A total of 825 lorries were involved in fatal crashes, which resulted in 5,364 deaths in the first 10 months of the 2024.
