The Marine Police Force (PPM) Region Two foiled an attempt to smuggle controlled Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) after raiding a premises on Jalan Cempaka 1, Air Bemban, Kulai today. In the 6.30 am raid, four foreign male workers employed at the premises were arrested, and 822 LPG cylinders estimated to be worth RM326,600 were seized. The raid was conducted by the PPM Region Two Intelligence Unit following public information regarding the detection of subsidized LPG smuggling activities at the premises. Police found various equipment suspected of being used to transfer subsidized gas to larger gas cylinders for the industrial market. All suspects and confiscated goods were handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for further action under Section 21 of the Supplies Control Act 1961 and Section 6 (1) (C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Ketua Polis Daerah Kulai ACP Tan Seng Lee berkata dalam serbuan pada 6.30 pagi itu, empat lelaki warga asing yang merupakan pekerja premis ditahan manakala 822 tong LPG dianggar bernilai RM326,600 turut dirampas. Beliau berkata serbuan dilakukan Unit Risik PPM Wilayah Dua susulan maklumat awam berhubung aktiviti penyelewengan LPG bersubsidi yang dikesan di premis terbabit.“Polis turut menjumpai pelbagai peralatan disyaki digunakan untuk memindahkan gas bersubsidi ke tong gas yang lebih besar untuk pasaran industri,“ katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.
Tan berkata kesemua lelaki itu dan barang rampasan diserahkan kepada pihak Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup untuk tindakan lanjut mengikut Seksyen 21 Akta Kawalan Bekalan 1961 dan Seksyen 6 Akta Imigresen 1959/63.PM Anwar harap sambutan Tahun Baharu Cina jadi titik mula kukuhkan semangat kebersamaan
