Union membership has “collapsed” in Australia as the old industrial base has been taken out but a new business model has been created in its absence, says Institute of Public Affairs Executive Director Scott Hargreaves.
“As union membership has collapsed in this country … they’ve created a new business model essentially,” Mr Hargreaves told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Which involves the rivers of gold flowing from the worker’s pay packets being siphoned off into programs like this for the benefit of the unions. “I think Australians and regulators need to understand that this really is the modern face of unionism and it’s got nothing to do with protecting workers’ interests.”
