Sky News Australia Meteorologist Bradlyn Oakes has warned Australia could experience above-average heat, bushfires and droughts between October and April as the nation prepares for El Nino. 'A big part of this story is our climate drivers; we’re currently in an El Nino as well as a positive Indian Ocean Dipole,” Ms Oakes said. 'When you add both of those together, then the impacts really stretch across the entirety of the country because they impact different areas, bringing the heat. Ms Oakes said Australia is “likely to see” the hottest temperature ever recorded at 50.7 degrees. “We’re likely to see that record broken throughout this year as heat really does take hold,” Ms Oakes said.
