Ewing was ruled out of the season finale in Tahiti after his wipeout before the event, but had already secured his finals spot, finishing in third place. Compatriot Jack Robinson won the event to secure fifth spot, while Tyler Wright and Molly Picklum will ensure there are ample Australians in the mix for the two titles.
The knockout format, established last year, will see the fifth and fourth-ranked surfers duel for a chance to meet the No.3 seed.
