Astros defenders stole at least three hits — and probably more — from a lethal Blue...

Jeremy Pena #3 of the Houston Astros celebrates the victory with teammates following a MLB game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on April 29, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. TORONTO — Dusty Baker dared Toronto to tee off. The Blue Jays pummeled his starting pitcher across four frenetic innings, but Baker sent him back for a fifth. The third time through the order penalty can punish those that tempt it.

“Those guys can hit. They don’t quit,” Baker said of the Blue Jays. “You look at some of their games, they can play from behind. They’ve done that for a couple years now. They inch away and then they blast one, blast another and, next thing you know, they’re back in the game.” Toronto had two first-inning outs hit harder than 102 mph. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. started the second with a flyout at 101.6 mph. Matt Chapman struck a 108.9 mph single in that same frame and scored on Raimel Tapia’s tough-luck double down the left-field line.
