KOTA KINABALU: South Koreans topped the number of international visitor arrivals to Sabah between January and April, said the state’s Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
Disclosing statistics from the Sabah Tourism Board’s Research Division, she said STB recorded 68,685 South Korean travellers to Sabah compared to just 720 arrivals during the same period last year.She also said that there were now seven Jin Air weekly flights from Incheon to Kota Kinabalu, adding that this frequency would be increased from next month.
“At the same time, we plan to upgrade the existing Jin Air aircraft flying the Incheon-KK route from B737-800 to B777-200 ,” he said. Seoul Travel Industry Cooperative’s chief director Park Ji-youn, who was present, also briefed the minister on plans to improve air connectivity between South Korea and Sabah.
