SCRATCHING parking coupons will soon be a thing of the past as a smart parking system will soon replace the conventional coupon system at all council parking spaces in Penang.
The Penang Smart Parking System, which will be implemented in August this year, will see the use of a smart mobile phone application using e-wallet as its payment mechanism at 36,000 lots throughout Penang.

“The public will need to merely download and use the app to get to their desired parking lots at the different public car parks. State Housing, Local Government, Town and Rural Development Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the Smart Parking System aimed to facilitate operations including collection and enforcement.
