The Fire Chief with the Lewistown Fire Department confirmed that a total of thirteen people were displaced following a massive apartment fire Wednesday morning.
According to fire officials, crews arrived to a 2-story apartment building at 24 West Charles Street just before 11am to find that a kitchen fire had spread through one of four apartments in a building.
After everyone was safely evacuated, the fire was able to be contained to one apartment. The remaining apartments suffered smoke and water damage as a result, and displaced all thirteen residents in the building.Despite no human injuries being reported, fire officials said one dog and two cats were lost in the fire.The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature, sourced from a stove in the kitchen.
