Here are all the supported banking branches that allow the renewal of passports or smart IDs across the country.
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says that his department is working hard to tackle the problem of long queues at offices across the country.
The minister said that the department currently has 120 of these units, with 100 more being manufactured. The goal is to purchase hundreds more of these units, he said, adding that he won’t be happy until there are over 1,000 such units in operation. Earlier this year, the group launched satellite offices in major malls across the country. It has also expressed interest in expanding its services to more bank branches.
Through the branches, South Africans are able to apply for, process and collect Smart IDs and passports, skipping the long queues and strained service levels that are often experienced at standard Home Affairs branches.
